Ban the Chain is a campaign designed by Canine Hilton to bring urgent awareness of the need for education and legislation, allowing people to interact with animals more responsibly!
Mr. Blair’s recent petition supporting animal laboratory testing and after reading the issue of live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China, confirms the obvious lack of respect humans hold towards life in general. Is it any surprising that animal life is not always understood when humans are unable to respect their own intelligence? (Falun Gong are living human beings)
Fact is that all animals have a place in the Eco system, as all insects play a part in the cycle of life. We forget that we, human beings, are animals also and as the great philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche stated, the greatest threat to our existence is a most dangerous germ, named ‘humanity’. As humans we are inclined to be thinking about, only ourselves, instead of the greater picture. We have a responsibility and a duty to protect all life and if we do not start to respect the individual species, we shall be responsible for causing, the genocide of all animals.
Our Motto is to TREAD CAREFULLY – break not the grass world, for problems related to animals arise from the one question. Where is the education about teaching children about animal life, from within their own culture? As this would surely prepare children and make them aware that cruelty to animals is wrong.
TREAD CAREFULLY – break not the grass world is also the title of my book, which will address such areas due to changing climate with an increasing demand for knowledge of the animal world and their welfare.
BAN-THE-CHAIN has the purpose of recognising that all animals destined to live life on a chain, should receive the status of a ‘working’ animal and in this case the ‘working dog’. Anyone with a working status has the right to compensation. Instead of tea or coffee, we are looking at a roll in the sand or run around in the field - break. A dog on a chain is very different to a dog being walked on a lead.
A chained dog should be allowed no more than 4 hours on a chain with a two hour break and a maximum of 12 hrs on a chain, including the necessary 2 hrs break, with equal free play time, having a rest, enjoyment of a good meal, sharing company of a kind to stimulate the mind and keep the dog active and alert. The restriction of any living being, eventually, results in some type of madness. Rehabilitation can take years and does not always resolve the problems.
I like to point to Monkey World as a glorious example in campaigning. As much as one admires the passion, the pain, the frustration expressed by those who take extreme measures, trying to protect those animals that are abused under the heading of laboratory testing, at this stage, culture which is so heavily ingrained in protocol, prevents us from changing the world in one day. Women were liberated in Western Society only last century and were so passive they accepted the position, less than 50 years ago, being a man’s chattel. Being equal requires education, courage and time.
The world needs to learn that DNA testing and Cells provide ample information and materials which avoid the need of living species. Secondly with the cloning of organs we provide human organs. Animal DNA is not always equal to human cells. Furthermore with those exceptional cases, there are humans, willing to help and are given a choice, receive a fee, for their services to be tested upon. Animals are tortured, oppressed and have no rights. Equally, those animals required for consumption, since this is the real world, at least give them an honourable life with a respectful passing. Bearing in mind the body manifests what is processed from within and an animal tortured in death, terrified, ends up on your plate, is a perfect recipe for all modern sickness such as asthma, cancer, early degenerative disorders etc.
THINK before you accept that which you wear or what you eat. Remember to TREAD CAREFULLY – break not the grass world without healthy cells, without clean air, without clear water, how many more generations will be allowed a healthy existence? Even an ant values its own existence.
